It does not include Blu-Ray play back software.

The drive itself works fine. It needs 2 USB ports for power which is normal (unless you prefer carrying around an extra power brick). It's cheaper than the black model because it's missing the Blu-Ray playback software and the lack of the useless glowing blue light. Amazon's description for this product is pretty poor. "True Theater High Definition" obviously doesn't apply here and they just copied and pasted text over from the black model. For reference this is the original black model.

Easy to use, works with OSX, USB, what's not to like? Using this on a 2006 Macbook pro via the included USB cables (with an extension). Plugged in in, OSX recognized it, booted up MakeMKV and I was on my way. Backed up my blu-ray collection for safekeeping. Recommended. I plugged this little guy into my iMac running OS 10.6 and BAM! Blue-Ray ripping heaven. I've been able to convert all of my Blu-Rays to mkv's. Playing a Blu-Ray, as one would a DVD, will not fly under OS X.
